Batch operations

A goal of batch operations is to offer further means of bulk import. Batch operations are reserved for internal use by FIS [SM FIS]. They can generate documents in a locked state, also denoted as provisional documents, where the basic batch processing scheme is characterized as follows:

Before pursuing a batch operation such as ‘close’ or ‘cancel’, several specialized creation requests are sent, which are characterized by a specific SOAP header providing a batch ID. The Integration Service will associate documents with the same batch IDs as one batch. For the incoming specialized batch creation requests, it will create provisional documents in a locked state, i.e. these documents cannot be checked out or deleted.

Provisional documents are finally turned into regular documents by the batch close operation or they are deleted by the batch cancel operation. For internal handling the query language supports the batches galaxy, which can be used to identify currently open batches.
