Working with document attachments

There are two ways to add a file to a document:

To add a file, the permission to attach files to the currently selected document type is required.

Note that the maximum size and a white list of file type extensions of attachments can be configured by your administrator.

Drag and drop (with the mouse pointer)

The ImageMaster WorkplaceClient supports the drag and drop function for adding a file to a document. The following options are available:

  • When the document edit mode is active if you drag a file in the attachment panel (either Attachment Preview or Attachment List), a drop area appears with the label “Drop files here”.

(To enter the edit mode expand the menu Document and select the function Edit. This can be done either in the document view or directly from the hit list.)

The upload starts immediately after dropping. Adjust the fields as desired and click Save. Only then the document or its new version will be stored in the archive including the new attachment. Always make sure that you see the confirmation according to Successful update. Otherwise, if you just close the tab or exit the browser, the changes will get lost!

  • When the search is active and you drag files in the hit list holding the Ctrl key, a drop area appears.

Select Attach file to the ImageMaster Document. When dropping the file, the document is opened in the edit mode. The new files are added to the attachment list and the first of them is automatically selected.

It is also possible to create a new document by dragging files in the hit list, see Creating a new document for more details.

Drag and drop in the hit list with multiple drop areas. The upper area creates a single document with multiple attachments. The lower area creates multiple documents, one for each file being dropped from a multi-selection.

Marking attachment as primary

It is possible to mark the file attached to the document as a primary attachment. The primary attachment will be displayed first in the list of attachments and will be used in the thumbnail view. By default, without such a primary marker, based on an alphabetical order the filename of the attachment determines which attachment is shown first, and therefore also used as a thumbnail.

There are two ways to mark attachment as primary:

Mark attachment as primary from attachment list view

  1. Activate Attachment List display for a document by clicking the “plus” icon in the document view.

  2. Expand the menu Document and select Edit.

  3. Tick the box “Select as primary attachment” for the corresponding attachment:
