Proxy Service for ERP
The ImageMaster Proxy Service for ERP is an essential component of the Content Services for ERP, designed to facilitate seamless document retrieval from third-party ECM systems via ArchiveLink. By keeping the old archive read-only and allowing ImageMaster to manage all document operations, the proxy service accelerates the go-live process and eliminates the need for delta migrations. Additionally, it ensures transparent and uninterrupted access to SAP data during migration, providing SAP systems with the necessary access to SAP documents also for comprehensive test scenario mapping.
Use case: Archiving solution transition
For new customers with an existing archive solution to be replaced, use the proxy service to map ImageMaster directly in the customer environment and make existing documents in the legacy system available on request.
After switching from a third-party system to ImageMaster, the old archive should be set to read-only. The proxy can then be used to retrieve documents that have not yet been migrated. A migration of data from the legacy system to ImageMaster can then be organized by the project or customer to take place in the background using dedicated migration software or a dedicated migration process. Since all create, update, and delete operations are executed directly in ImageMaster, there is no need for a delta migration. New documents are created in ImageMaster, while old documents can be retrieved from an existing archive via ArchiveLink.
Use case: Testing with production data
To ensure that customizations and new developments do not negatively impact processes in the production system, testing with production-related data is essential, which is easily accomplished using the proxy service.
Typically, a temporary image of the production environment (a copy of the SAP production system) is created for this purpose. While creating an SAP system image from a database copy is straightforward, creating an image of an archive system by copying is more labor-intensive and requires substantial storage and time. This effort can be avoided by using the proxy service instead, by setting up the productive archive as read-only archive to which requests from the testing archive are forwarded.
