Final archive specific settings

Final archive is typically used before decommissioning a mailbox to store remaining items that have not yet been archived. This is done in the background where no user interaction via the Outlook Add-In is required. See for related details Final archive use cases in [SM Mail].

To configure final archive settings

  • Specify Chunk Size, Spider Threshold, Maximum Open Failed, and Completeness Threshold.

Specify Disposal Threshold in months to define the period before a mailbox is disposed (removal of hosts, reports, statistics, and the mailbox itself). The default setting “-1” disables the disposal. All mailboxes that have an expired disposal threshold and one of the following run states: “finalDoneApprovedCleaned”, “finalDoneIncompleteCleaned”, or “finalDoneCompleteCleaned” will be deleted.

  • From the Report Role list, select the role that is used to access final archive success reports.

To configure archiving settings

Expand the Archiving Settings panel:

The panel allows configuring lists:

  • Included Folders

  • Excluded Folders

By default, both lists contain some entries. You can add folders by typing a specific name into the entry field and clicking the corresponding button Add or Remove an entry from the list, if desired.

It is possible to add folders containing the backslash “\” character used as separator in directory paths.

List boxes can be filled with the standard entries as defined in the table below. The table also shows the initial default setting which can be reset via Load Defaults .

Exchange Web Services (EWS) - well known folder names

To provide a robust method for referencing system folders, whose names can differ depending on localization and the system language, instead of a folder name, an alias can be given based on the following pattern starting with the prefix “_WellKnownFolderName.”:

  • _WellKnownFolderName.<FolderName>

Within this pattern, the placeholder <FolderName> refers to a constant value according to Microsoft Exchange “WellKnownFolderName enumeration”, and such an alias can also be combined with a folder name.

For related information see: [MS Exchange WellKnownFolderName].

The following entries illustrate working examples:

  • _WellKnownFolderName.MsgFolderRoot (typically included)

  • _WellKnownFolderName.RecoverableItemsRoot\Audit (typically excluded)
