System management services

All services which are explained in the following sections require a proper deployment and initial archive setup as summarized in chapter Guidelines for an initial setup. System management services may refer to the administration of roles (involving permissions and queries as a part of role definitions) or to the administration of document structures, i.e. document types and their belonging attributes.

Figure 568: Context of configuration and system management services

In an ImageMaster environment all tasks that can be accomplished with the system management services will most likely be handled by the ImageMaster AdminClient. This applies in particular to the ImaAdminService, which is supposed to assist in automating an initial system setup and which provides methods for configuring the system. Consequently, these services are less likely to be exposed for common integration purposes, yet they may serve to better understand the document management services from chapter Document management services.

An overview of the services is presented in the following sections. Beside the system management services mentioned there, further services with cross-sectional functionality are provided (see chapter Cross-sectional web services), which may optionally be used in an ImageMaster environment. Also see Web service references.
