Creating domain users

The ImageMaster Content Services for E-Mail require the following domain users:

  1. a user “imamsxadmin”1 in the Coordinator domain with special rights to execute processes on Coordinator hosts for archiving e-mails (for fallback and load distribution, multiple “imamsxadmin” technical user accounts are supported)

  2. a user “imamsxadmin” in the Exchange domain with special rights to the mailboxes for archiving e-mails

  3. a simple user in the Coordinator domain “ima4msxAdminCoord” for the basic authentication of the WSAdminCoordinator web service

  4. a simple user in the Coordinator domain “ima4msxCoord” for the basic authentication of the WSCoordinator web service

The following chapters starting with Creating the role group “Ima4MSX” and ending with Creating a local administration user describe the user creation process.

The simple domain users “ima4msxAdminCoord” and “ima4msxCoord” do not need any special rights or group memberships, but the Coordinator installer will set up the web services to be only accessible via basic authentication with these users.

To create a domain user, do the following on the Microsoft Exchange host:

  1. Open the folder:

Start > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers

  2. Go to the folder: <domain>\User

  3. Create a new user and set up the user’s credentials:

  4. Repeat the actions specified above for the “ima4msxAdminCoord” and “ima4msxCoord” users.
