Multi-tenancy

Multi-tenancy is supported on two levels:

  1. Configuration level

The configuration is stored for a specific tenant (“configuration tenant”) inclusive of its referenced Exchange servers, Coordinators, and policies. At the time of the Coordinator installation, the “configuration tenant” will be assigned to the Coordinator (see chapter Configuring the Coordinator).

  2. Data level

Data (archived e-mails) is stored for a specific tenant (“data tenant”) configured for the archiving policy. See [UM AdminClient], chapter Policy settings for details.

A data tenant can be specified for each type of policy archiving, i.e. for compliance archiving or final archiving (see chapter Use cases and operations).

The following scenarios are possible:

  • Multiple “data tenants” use the same “configuration tenant”:

The configuration is shared for multiple tenants inclusive of its Coordinators (web services and jobs) and logging, but the data (the archived e-mails) is separated per “data tenant”.

  • One “data tenant” for one “configuration tenant”:

Only the ImageMaster system itself is shared. Each policy holds its own configuration and requires its own Coordinators.
