The description in this chapter refers to Attribute search fields. To perform a search for attributes, follow the steps below:
-
Open a search panel.
-
To execute a default search, click the Search tab.
-
For information on personalized searches refer to chapter Personalized attribute searches.

-
Optionally, select a document type in the Document Type field. The following options are supported:
-
Search over one document type: select the document type from the list by selecting the corresponding box.
In a type-specific search, only such search fields are displayed, which belong to the document type.
-
Search over all document types: select the box near the filtering panel to perform search over all available document types.
-
Search over multiple document types: select the boxes for the document types over which you want to perform the search.
The preferred document type is displayed first, all other document types are sorted alphabetically. You can filter the list of document types by entering the filter term.
When you search across several or all document types, by default only those attributes are shown that belong to more than one document type. If you hover over the attribute value, the document types which contain this attribute are listed in the tooltip.
You can display all attributes for all document types by clearing the function Show Only Common Attributes, see Search options for more details.
In this case it can also happen that other search fields become disabled when you enter input in a specific field. Search fields of document types not containing the corresponding attribute are disabled then.
