Dossier structure
The dossier structure allows combining classifications, folders, dossiers and other folder references into a structured view that is presented to the users in the workplace area. Once configured, the structure is stored in ImageMaster.
Open the Dossier Structure tab to configure a dossier tree.

You can add or delete the following items from the structure:
-
classification
-
dossier category
-
folder
-
folder reference
The current tab provides functionality to define and organize a structure based on items that have already been created within the system. Before utilizing this feature, ensure that all items are prepared and available in the system.
To create a structure, follow these steps:
-
Expand the menu Add and select the desired item from the list to be added as a node.
-
When the dossier structure is updated by clicking the Save button, the system automatically checks if a document type exists for each dossier. A dialog then presents an explanation and the mapping between the dossiers and the document types that will be created. The names of the document types are predefined but can be modified in the document type configuration room. By default, the name consists of the prefix “doc” followed by the name of the corresponding dossier, with special characters stripped away.
-
To delete a node, the following rules are applied:
-
Navigational folders (including their children) can only be removed if there are none of the following structure types below it.
-
Dossier categories can only be removed if the linked document type is empty.
Classifications and folder references can always be removed because they’re either dynamically generated or represent a structure that cannot be changed anyways from the structure configuration.
-
The following node types are available:
-
Classifications
Classifications that have been configured in the Classification tab can be embedded at any navigational node of a structure branch. It is possible to add multiple classifications into the structure; however, they must each be on their own node. Furthermore, a classification node does not allow any sub nodes. The nodes are generated dynamically when a user views the structure in the client.
-
To add a classification node, expand the menu Add and select Classification from the list.
Specify the name of the of the node and select the classification which will be used as a base for this node:
Confirm with Ok.
-
The classification configuration panel will appear on the right side of the panel:
-
Optionally, adjust the description and change the default icon that is displayed next to the node in the tree.
-
-
Dossier categories
Dossier categories can be embedded at any navigational node at the end of a structure branch. It is possible to embed multiple dossier categories into the structure, but each must occupy its own node. Adding any further folders below a dossier category is not allowed, as this action is reserved for end users.
-
To add a Dossier Category, expand the menu Add and select Dossier Category from the list. Specify the name of the folder and select the template in the list:
For more details on the template configuration, see the section Dossier template.
-
The configuration panel will appear on the right side of the panel:
-
Optionally, adjust the description and change the default icon that is displayed next to the node in the tree.
-
-
Folders
ImageMaster folders serve as navigational elements within the structure. These folders do not contain any documents; their primary function is to facilitate easier navigation throughout the system. They are not intended for storing documents or files. These folders must be placed above all other item types in the structure and cannot be placed beneath them. However, it is possible to add the folders inside dossier categories, providing flexibility within those specific categories.
-
To add a folder, expand the menu Add and select Folder from the list. Specify the name of the folder and click Ok:
The folder configuration panel will appear on the right side of the panel:

Folder references
Folder references allow existing paths to be embedded into the dossier structure. It is possible to embed multiple folder references into the structure, but each must occupy its own node. A folder reference node does not allow any sub-nodes; the nodes are displayed based on the existing folders when you view or navigate the structure in the workplace client. To view folder references, you must have permissions for both the dossier node's path and the referenced path.
-
To add a folder reference, expand the menu Add and select Folder reference from the list. Specify the folder reference name and click Ok.
-
Alternatively, select the folder to be referenced from a list by clicking the link:
