Introduction

Goal of ImageMaster Archive Recovery Management

When storage systems in an ImageMaster 9 archiving solution become temporarily unavailable, ImageMaster Archive Recovery Management (ARM) ensures that archiving operations can resume promptly. Once these incidents are resolved, ImageMaster ARM actively restores the configured archiving redundancy levels in the storage systems, employing various repair methods for this.

ImageMaster archiving solutions can opt to use low cost storage which is more likely to experience an irreparable hardware failure during its lifetime. In such cases ImageMaster ARM with the help of backups of such low cost storage provides the possibility to effectively resynchronize storage systems to a consistent state.

This system manual provides a step-by-step guide on how to use ImageMaster ARM to safely handle temporary storage outages.

ARM operations are executed by using the arm-tool, which is a Java based command line tool described in this document. In the web service reference, ARM operations are also grouped under “ImaRecoveryService” [WS IS].
