Opening an attachment with a preview
Each ImageMaster document may have one or several files attached. To view an attached file with related details, select the corresponding attachment in any of the views:
Also take into account the related details in chapter Document preview and printing with the integrated viewer.
The attachment preview consists of:
-
an attachment list view (available in the document details view)
-
an attachment content display
- metadata view
Attachment list view
The attachment list panel provides additional access to the document attachments. If the document has multiple attachments:
-
The view shows them in the list. Each entry is labeled with the attachment’s filename and it can show a small symbol indicating the attachment's MIME type.
-
The attachment defined as “major” is displayed first. (By default this is the first archived attachment.)
The panel lists all attachments by showing the following information:
-
the MIME type icon
-
the attachment name
-
: prints the document content
-
: opens an attachment in a separate browser tab or downloads it to the local disk
Attachments that cannot be shown in the preview because of the size threshold or an unsupported MIME type must be downloaded for opening. Attachments can directly be downloaded from the document view or preview (see Downloading attachments).
Special case: If the OfficeClient module is licensed and configured, for MS Office attachments the icon will be replaced with an icon matching the attachment's MIME type.
: The function checks out the attachment to MS Office and opens it in the native MS Office application.
-
: verifies the attachment content (for more details see Verifying attachments)
-
: shows attachment details such as file size, available attachment properties and a content key
The information will be displayed instead of the viewer. To return to the attachment preview, click the Information button again.
Attachment preview
A preview of the file content is displayed in the attachment preview panel. If the document contains more than one attachment, all attachments are presented in the list. The file itself is shown in the internal viewer. When opening the panel, the first page is selected.
Any attachment is internally converted for viewing. In case of a conversion error a placeholder is shown with a message. In such a case you only have the possibility to download the attachment for further viewing.
The first page is always selected when the panel is opened. If an attachment contains more than one page, you can navigate through the document by clicking the arrows button or by entering a page number directly. The total number of pages and the number of the current page is displayed next to the navigation arrows:
If the stamping functionality is active, there can be an overlay which typically indicates any kind of status information such as “Reprint from archive A1”. The system administration can apply a system-wide stamp, to block users from retrieving the original document, where this original version in ImageMaster does not contain this stamp.
