Creating an administrator to manage the system configuration

As “useradm”, you need to provide an account for the administrator who will be responsible for the system configuration. Log in with the “useradm” account and in the configuration room User and Role Management perform the following steps:

  1. Create a new user “configurator”:

    • Click the tab Users.

    • Click Add User and specify the user properties. See chapter User management for details.

    • Click Save.

  2. Create a new role “System_Configuration” with enough permissions to configure the system:

    • Click the tab Roles.

    • Click Add Role and specify the main properties for the role. See chapter Roles management for details.

  3. Configure the role “System_Configuration”.

You can provide the administrator with access to the ImageMaster Client configuration rooms (see Main page with configuration rooms) or their subareas in the administration view.

Two types of permissions can be enabled: “Read” or “Update”. When the read permission is enabled for a function, the corresponding room or subarea will be displayed in the administration view. If no read permission is set to “Enabled”, none of the configuration rooms will be available to the user and therefore the administration view will be unavailable.

    • To grant access to the room System and its subareas, expand the panel General Administration (see chapter General administration permissions) and enable the configurations: System, Logging Configuration, Fulltext Configuration, Audit Trail, and Multi-Tenancy.

    • To grant access to the room Document Types, expand the panel Document Types Administration (see chapter Document type administration permissions) and do the following:

      • Specify the document types that will be available to the role. To do so, set the corresponding read and / or update permissions to “Enabled”.

      • Optionally select the Permission to create Document Types box to allow document types creation.

    • To grant access to the room Users and Roles and its subareas, expand the panel General Administration (see chapter General administration permissions) and enable the configurations: User, Role Assignment, and Role Configuration.

    • To grant access to other configuration rooms, expand the panel General Administration (see chapter General administration permissions) and enable the namesake configurations, for example:
      • Archive Configuration

      • SAP Configuration

      • SharePoint Configuration

      • MS-Exchange Server Configuration

      • File Share Configuration

      • Dashboard

      • Compliance Cockpit

  4. Assign the role “System_Configuration” to the user “configurator”:

    • Go back to the tab Users.

    • Select the user “configurator” in the list and click Assign Roles.

    • In the open dialog, select the box next to the role “System_Configuration” and confirm with OK.

    • Click Save.

  5. Log off as “useradm” and log in as the new user “configurator”.

You may now begin with the system configuration (see chapter System configuration).
